Bills/bonds means lending the government your money and the government pays you back your money with an assured interest depending on how long you have kept the money with them.These offer a fairly competitive rate of return compared to savings or fixed deposits. There is assured interest on your principle. You get back your principle amount as invested plus the interest gained.The minimum investment in them is shs. 100,000. If you invest in T-Bills for 3 months – you earn 10.38% as interest or 6 months- 12.36% or one year-12.56%. You hold a bond for 2 years-14%, 5 years- 14.125%, 10 years-14.375%,15 years-16.00% and 20 years- 15%. This is as per the Bank of Uganda website.
